STEVE GLEASON was diagnosed with ALS in January 2011. Beyond his faith that there is a solution to heal, it is his mission to show that patients can not only live but thrive after this diagnosis. In doing so, he hoped to inspire others to do the same.

Since 2011, Team Gleason has provided over $40 million in adventure, technology, equipment, and care services to people living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and countless others through advocacy, support and ultimately bringing an end to the disease. And, they're just getting started.

Started as a call to action from Steve Gleason, Answer ALS is the single largest and most comprehensive ALS research project in history, producing more ALS data than has ever been amassed, while openly sharing with the global research community. That data is being used to investigate the unique pathways of each variation of ALS and begin to develop the right treatments or cure.

Drawing provided an escape for the pain. It enabled me to sit in one place for hours and feel contentment and peace for the first time in a long time. And it was exciting that I liked what I was drawing. It felt so good to feel proud of something again. The momentary relief of the crazy mind was exhilarating.

My drawings started changing into things I didn't understand. Like a different language. I feel like what I couldn't express verbally was coming out of me in these little forms.
